You’ve found my Seedling Cowl Pattern (this link takes you to the pattern page on Ravelry). This is an easy pattern for a basic seedstitch cowl. It’s quick, it’s easy and the end result is cozy and looks impressive.
I designed this cowl when I was in need of a present for a friends birthday. I made a set of a headband and cowl for her. I also wrote up the pattern for the headband, so please check that out too!
The pattern is available in both English and Dutch. On this page you can find the English pattern, for the Dutch pattern please click here: NEDERLANDS.
- Aran weight yarn, I used Zeeman Tweed in the colour 01 for the sample (approximately 170 meters).
- 6 mm circular needles with 80 cm cable.
- Darning needle (with an eye big enough for your yarn!)
k = knit
p = purl
Cast on 169 stitches using the long-tail cast-on method. Place marker to indicate beginning of round and join to work in the round.
Row 1: k1, p1 to end of round.
Row 2: p1, k1 to end of round.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 another 19 times, for a total of 40 rows (some scrap paper is useful to keep track of your progress)
Bind off in pattern (Bind off as usual but knit and purl stitches according to row 1). Weave in ends.
And there you have a comfortable cowl!
